Allen Moody

October 1, 1944 — May 10, 2017

Service for Lowell "Allen" Moody was 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Ward's Grove Cemetery. Allen passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at his home. He was 72 years old.

The son of Aaron and Mary Stephens Curtis was born October 1, 1944, in Whitewater, Kansas. He was raised in rural Kansas, where he attended Whitewater and Remington schools before attending Newton High School. There he graduated as a member of the class of 1963. After graduation, Allen joined the United States Army. Upon being discharged on October 15, 1968, Allen returned to his family, who were living in Raton, New Mexico. There he took a job working in the local coal mines. However, a short time later, he and his family moved back to Kansas, eventually settling in Newton. There, one evening while attending a local CB radio meeting, he met Connie Lord. They would marry on June 11, 1976. For a short time they continued living in Newton. Then one day, they decided it was time to move. So they threw a dart and it hit the map near Claremore, Oklahoma. A short time later they were living there. They lived in town for a short time, before finding their ideal home in the country.

Allen had many hobbies and pastimes that he enjoyed. Living in the country allowed him to be close to nature. He loved hunting, fishing, and feeding all the local wildlife. He was also very talented at building things. In fact he was so good that he often made his own parts to fix other things that were broken. However, his true love was his family, and spending time with them was what truly made him happy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Mary Curtis and son, Scott Allen Moody.

Survivors included his wife Connie of the home; daughter, Rhonda Biehler and husband Chris of McPherson, Kansas; and sons, Richard Lord and Robert Lord of Foyil; grandchildren, Anthony, Chrisanna, Ryan, Misty, Mark, Marci, Christen, Jesse, Ashley, Emily, Steven, Hannah, Sadie and Kevin; 27 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
