Memorial service for Margaret Tapley will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at First United Methodist Church. Margaret passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020. She was 92.
Born August 25, 1928 in Pella, Iowa to Andrew John and Anna (Verros) Buwalda, Margaret attended school and graduated high school in Pella. On August 28, 1947 she married Charles Alfred Tapley in Rockwell City, Iowa. The couple lived in Sac City, Iowa and Storm Lake, Iowa before moving to Claremore in 2003.
Margaret worked for a time with Fowler Telephone Company and the Rural Electrical Co-op as a secretary and billing clerk. She loved her family and took great care of them. Margaret loved people and accumulated many friends through the years. Her involvement with church through the United Methodist Women Society was one of her ways of giving. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and playing golf, and also spending time in her flower garden. A member of the Eastern Star, Margaret was at one time a Worthy Matron; she also was a member of the P.E.O. Margaret and Chuck hosted a foreign exchange student, Jane Garrido from Ecuador; they have loved and kept in contact with her for over 40 years. Jane last visited on Margaret's 90th birthday.
Those who preceded Margaret in death include her parents, husband Chuck Tapley; her daughter Mary K. Tapley; sisters Lucille VanAndel, Wilma Eilander, and Aldora R. Buwalda; and brother Ed Buwalda.
She is survived by her son Mark C. Tapley and wife Donna; her grandsons Michael C. Tapley and husband Rich, Brian S. Tapley and wife Natalie, Scott A. Tapley and wife Kari, and Kevin D. Tapley; her great- grandchildren Hailee Tapley, Clark Tapley, Logan Tapley, and Quinn Tapley, whom she loved watching laugh and play; and Jane Garrido.
