Augustus Clarence (A.C.) Harrell, Jr. was born on August 3, 1925 to Beulah Edith Cobbler Harrell and Augustus Clarence (Gus) Harrell Sr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma at home. The oldest of five, A.C. enjoyed playing sports growing up and excelled in baseball and basketball and graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1943.
Following graduation A.C. enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served his country during World War II and also the Korean conflict.
On July 27, 1946, he married his wife of 70 years, Mary Charlene Demo, and together they had six children. The family lived in Tulsa with A.C. working for his father in his Roofing Business as both a hands on roofer and salesman and later joined Hanna Lumber Company at 3rd and Peoria in Tulsa and it while working there that he learned of an opportunity to purchase a Lumber Company in Inola, Oklahoma.
In 1966 he moved the family to Inola and operated not only the Inola Lumber Company until it closed but also oversaw numerous construction projects along with managing other lumber companies and building material outlets throughout the area until his retirement.
His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who always put them first. He worked hard all of his life and taught his children that hard work never hurt anyone and to treat all people with respect and dignity. A.C. was also a lover of animals and any that knew him knew of his love of his dogs (especially his Yellow Lab Duke) and also later in life - his cats.
A.C. is survived by his wife, Charlene of the home, sons Randy Harrell of Inola, Scott Harrell and wife Lynn of Inola, Doug Harrell and wife Jane of Oologah, Todd Harrell and wife Rhonda of Tulsa, Stan Harrell and wife Jennifer of Claremore and one daughter, Patrice Jones and husband Rod of Inola. Sisters, Ella Mae Chronister of Tulsa, Lois Yeager of Tulsa, and one brother Don Harrell of St. Charles, Missouri. Eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
A.C. was preceded in death by his loving parents, one sister Isla Rhae Wyatt, and one great-grandson, Brockman Jay Jones
