Memorial service for Alberta Mae McGuire will be Monday, June 19, 2017, at 6:30 pm at the Inola United Methodist Church. Alberta passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017. She was 92.
Born May 8, 1925 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Albert Denver and Grace Elizabeth (Speck) Castleberry, Alberta grew up in the Claremore and Inola area. She attended school at Dederly, which was a one room school house. She married Marvin O. McGuire, and to this union a son was born.
Alberta's priority was her family, and she took great care of them. She worked at a bed and breakfast for a time and also cleaned houses. She was involved with her church and the United Methodist Women. Alberta loved helping others and never considered herself old .She always felt young at heart. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews were very important to her, and she loved spending time with them.
Those family members that survive include her son Malcolm McGuire and wife Jennifer of Tulsa; her grandchildren Alex McGuire and fiancée Sarah Barnes of Tulsa, Jeremiah McGuire and wife Grace of Virginia, Jonathan McGuire, Adam McGuire, and Alyssa McGuire, all of Tulsa, and Donald Nye and Diane Nye of Colorado; her great-grandchildren Zachary and Caleb McGuire, Chance and Ethen Wise, and a great-great granddaughter; her siblings John Castleberry and wife Jolene, Mary Jo Cole, Albert Castleberry, Jr. and wife Barbara, Lloyd Castleberry, and Ray Castleberry; and many nieces and nephews.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Dorothy Nye and husband Lawrence; son Donald Yocum, and granddaughter Donna Wise; her siblings Barbara, Betty, Elva, Ruby, Irene, Oscar, David, Wilber, Cecil, Virgil, Floyd, and Linda.
