Anne Marie West

Anne Marie West passed away on Monday, February 24th, 2025, at the age of 93.

The daughter of Frazier and Cora Anne King Holifield was born January 18, 1932, in Laurel, Mississippi. As a young girl, she grew up in Laurel where she attended high school, graduating in 1949. Shortly after graduating, Marie was employed by Commercial Nation Bank in Laurel. She was an active member of the Kingston Assembly of God Church. As a young woman, she moved to Springfield, Missouri, to work at the Gospel Publishing House. In Springfield, she began dating Jerry D. West and was married on March 8, 1957. The newlywed couple made their home in Springfield, where they raised their son, Doug. Marie was always busy helping Jerry, caring for Doug, decorating cakes, and serving in Church. Her love for the Lord was Marie’s foundation for life. Marie retired from the State of Missouri Employment Security Office. About that time, Jerry and Marie purchased a farm and moved to Mount Vernon, Missouri. In 2016, they sold the farm and moved to Claremore to be near their granddaughter and her family. Whether it was decorating cakes, playing the piano, working with antiques, or volunteering at the local thrift shop, Marie was always on the go. She made friends wherever she was and had a smile and laugh that could light up the room. However, her true love was her family, and she enjoyed every minute she had with them.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jerry D. West. Survivors include her son, Doug West and wife, Cynthia of Lees Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Erin DeLong and husband, Walter of Claremore, and Jeremiah West and wife, Karina of Boca Raton, Florida; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Isaiah, Elijah, Orion, Abigail, and Nathanial; and sister Doris Wilson.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Claremore and Suncrest Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care. A memorial will be held at Brookdale Claremore on March 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
