Graveside service for Anthony Salles "Tony" Modesto will be 1 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 8, at Wann Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Smith officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m.
Tony passed away Thurs., Nov. 1, 2012, at his home at the age of 83.
The son of Antone and Elvira (Picanso) Modesto was born Sept. 20, 1929, in New Bedford, MA. In 1948, he graduated from high school in New Bedford, and went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tony lived in Oklahoma City where he worked for the Postal Service before moving to Foyil. On Sept. 3, 1966, Tony married Billy Kay Perry in Claremore. Tony retired from McDonnell-Douglas where he worked as a painter. He enjoyed playing Bingo, going to Casino's, fishing, family get togethers, spending time with his grandchildren, and being outside.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Kay; son, Keith Cordrey; granddaughter, Rhonda Modesto; great-grandson, Christian Potts; brother, Arthur; sisters, Eileen and Hilda.
Survivors include his children: Tony Modesto and wife, Melissa of Dallas, Steve Modesto and wife,Jeri of Tecumseh, Jack Modesto and wife, Mary of Nacoma Park, Ronnie Modesto
of Norman, Glenda Hudson and husband, Chris of Foyil, Vickie Casey and husband, Rick of Claremore, Danny Cordrey of Foyil, and Angie Malone of Foyil; grandchildren: Crystal McCoy, Toni Smith, Billie Bingham, Jessica Malone, Andrew and Deanna Modesto, Elisa Modesto, Monica Followell, Alvin Modesto; great-grandchildren: Timmy, Tyler, Heaven and Heather Bingham, Emily, Josh and Sarah Smith, Kaylee and Rhyder Malone, Shyanne and Leslie McCoy, Brandon and David Followell,and Cadence and Ean Modesto.
