Arvel Dean Casey passed away on August 2, 2021 at the age of 83 with his daughters by his side. Arvel was born in Claremore, OK on February 21, 1938 to Virgil and Zora Casey. He graduated from Foyil High School and later received his Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Education from Northeastern State University.
Arvel began his coaching and teaching career at Claremore - Sequoyah. He then moved to Verdigris Public Schools where he coached and taught until his retirement. He worked in the education system for over 30 years.
Arvel married the love of his life Delourice (Graves) on May 30, 1959. They had four children - Kathi, Lori, Teresa, and David.
When he was not coaching or teaching, you could find him singing. Although he loved all genres of music, Elvis Presley songs were his favorite. He always enjoyed attending various sporting events in and around Claremore. Arvel especially loved to support his grandchildren in their many activities. He was their number one fan. But mostly, he enjoyed being with his family, whom he loved dearly.
Arvel was kind, uplifting, and had a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa and will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Delourice Casey; son David Casey; mother and father, Virgil and Zora Casey; grandson Taylor Williams and son-in-law, Rick Cook.
Arvel is survived by his daughters Kathi Tabor and husband Bob, Lori Cook and Teresa Williams; sisters Virginia Lingren and Leota Willhoite; grandchildren Brandon Choate and wife Marisa, Casey Cook and wife Demi, Carlie Peter and husband Jake, Codie Williams, Noah Tabor and Allison Saare, and two great-grandchildren Mason and Luke Choate.
