Funeral service for Augusta "Gussie" Mae Walden will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the White Oak Baptist Church. Pastors Jack DaMico and Leland Bartlett will officiate. Burial will follow at Lone Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home and Crematory.
Augusta Walden passed away Monday July 12, 2010 in Tulsa at the age of 85.
The daughter of Walter and Vivian Hall Bilyeu was born May 22, 1925 in Morrison, Oklahoma. As a young girl she and her family moved to the Lone Chapel community. There she attended Lone Chapel school. Later she married and began raising her family in the Claremore area. A few years later, another move took her to Chelsea. She worked primarily as a homemaker, but worked a short time at Gleets Cafe. In her later years Augusta could be seen all over town riding her scooter; regardless of the weather. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, sewing, and attending Senior Citizens.
She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Vivian; children, Marshall Lee Owings, Oliver "Bubby" Owings, and Ross Dee Owings; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include her children, Steve Owings and wife Millie of Broken Arrow, Kathy Mae Frye and husband Sammy of Chelsea, J.W. Walden of Chelsea, Tom Walden of Vinita, Jimmy Walden of Alluwe, SueAnn Jennings of Alluwe, Debbie Walden of Vinita, and daughter-in-law LouAnn Owings of Broken Arrow, sister, Zoe Fick of Texas, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
