Service for Barbara Elizabeth Loudermilk will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Barbara passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018. She was 79.
Born December 20, 1938 in Bosworth, Missouri, to Charles “Tom” and Hazel (Parker) Doss, Barbara received her education in her birth community, graduating from Bosworth High School. Shortly after finishing school, Barbara moved to California to help her sister. She also worked at continuing her education. She later began working for Rockwell and moved up to buyer, she was the first woman buyer for the company. During her time there, she won Business Woman of the Year for the State of California; this award was presented to her by President Gerald Ford.
Barbara met Bob Eugene Loudermilk while living in California. He was from Arkansas and she was from Missouri; and with their common backgrounds, they hit it off and married on December 28, 1956. The couple made their home in California until 1979, when they transferred to Tulsa. He was with McDonnell Douglas and she was still with Rockwell, and they made their home in Claremore. Following her retirement, Barbara was never one to rest. She began contract work with different companies and enjoyed staying busy. Family was most important to Barbara and she made sure they had everything they needed. She took care of everyone that she came into contact with. She was a Sunday school teacher and was always happy to help with children. She was tough when she needed to be, but her loving and caring nature always prevailed.
Those family members that survive include her husband Bob of their home in Claremore; her children Trich Clyma and husband Joe, Kevin Loudermilk and wife Debbie, Michael Loudermilk and wife Jodie, and Jenny Baker and husband John, all of Claremore; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; her siblings Marvin Doss, Joyce Moore, Phyllis Bruce, and Voncille Helmig; her brother-in-law Wayne Loudermilk, and her sister-in-law Ethel Mae Loudermilk.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Lewis Doss, Wes Doss, Charles Doss, Bob Doss, and Kay Lafever.
