Funeral service for Barbara Morgan will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 4, at Grace Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Chelsea, with Pastor Sam Kulp officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday 1-8 p.m.
Barbara passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the age of 70.
The daughter of Clayton and Alice Hicks Collier was born October 18, 1946 in Checotah. Around the age of 2 she and her family moved, settling in Sapulpa. There she attended Allen Grade School and Sapulpa High School graduating in 1964. Shortly after graduation she began her career in health care. Over the next few years she worked as CNA and an LPN at places such as Oral Roberts Nursing Home and Bartlett Memorial Hospital.
In 1976 Barbara would start another chapter in her life. She was set up on a blind date by her cousin. He took her to a Christmas party where she was introduced to Kenneth Morgan. They would marry on January 22, 1977 in Sand Springs. After her marriage Barbara then decided to return to college. She then earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. Again she returned to Bartlett Hospital in Sapulpa, working there until moving to Claremore in 1993. Over the next few years she would work at Claremore Regional Hospital retiring in 2010.
In her spare time Barbara had many hobbies. Reading the Bible, working jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and collecting Barbie Dolls to name a few. However collecting and preserving family memories was her passion.
She is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Alice and Jasper Williams, father, Clayton Collier, and brother Bob Collier.
Survivors include her husband Kenneth Morgan of the home; daughters, April Winkler, Elaine Valliere and husband George, and Marianne Brasael and husband Thomas all of Claremore; sisters, Bonnie Williams and Emma Whisenhunt of Tulsa, and Esther Marshall and husband Harold of Siloam Springs; grandchildren, Dustin Santa Maria Jr, Brittany Herrman, Kaylee Herrmann, Anthony Winkler, Morgan Valliere, Brody Winkler, and Mason Valliere; and great granddaughter, Brileigh Vargas.
