The daughter of John and Ruth Cherry was born August 23, 1948 in Raleigh, North Carolina. At a young age she and her family moved to Claremore. There she attended Claremore schools, graduating with the class of 1966. She then continued her education earning an associate degree through NEO in Miami.
In 1972 in a meeting arranged by a friend, Barbara was introduced to Kenny Rader. The two quickly became a couple, and married May 31, 1972. In the mid 1990's Barbara and Kenny retired and fulfilled one of their dreams and moved to Florida. After several years in the sun they moved back home to Claremore.
