Services for Benny Ray Hicks will be 2:00p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be 11:00a.m., Saturday, January 17, at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Oklahoma. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, January 15, from 1pm—8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm—8pm. Benny passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the age of 74.
Benny Ray Hicks was born July 28, 1940 in Lincoln County, to Clovis Wayne and Ruby Hope (Rogers) Hicks. He was reared and educated in his birth community graduating with the class of 1958 in Tryon, Oklahoma. Following his schooling, Benny began working in the oil fields. He held many positions throughout the years in this industry. He also worked as a truck driver for Stockton Trucking.
On August 11, 1959, he married Patricia Loyce Shaw and the couple made their home in Tryon, then Fairview before moving to Chelsea in 1993. Benny’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and raising a garden. He enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. Family was most important to Benny and he loved spending time with them. He was known to all his family and close friends as “Daddy Rocks”.
Those family members that survive include his wife Patricia of their home; his children Kerry Ray Hicks and wife Stacie of Mustang, Oklahoma and Chandra Leigh Robertson of Chelsea; his grandchildren Victoria Hope “Tori” Hicks and Tanner James Robertson; his sister Marilyn Jane Steidley and husband Kenny of Foyil; his nieces and nephews Rhonda Olson, Fran Shaw, Donell Turnham, Tate Steidley, Troy Steidley and Traci Hanebrink and several great nieces and nephews. Benny was preceded in death by his parents and his son Kenneth Wayne Hicks.
