Bertha Mae Riggins

Funeral service for Bertha Mae Riggins will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 31, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oowala Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 4-6 p.m.
Bertha passed away Friday, October 28, 2016, at her home at the age of 81.
The daughter of James Peter Green and Essie Mae (Johnson) Green was born July 10, 1935, in Claremore. Bertha was raised in Claremore and attended Lone Elm schools. Bertha married Hubert Voss. They moved to Arizona where they raised their seven children. She moved back to Claremore in 1973. Hubert and Bertha separated. Bertha met Johnnie Lee Riggins in Claremore, and they were married on Dec. 4, 1976.
Bertha worked a short time in home health care, and took great pride in taking care of her home. She wanted items in their place, and enjoyed gardening and home interior designing. Bertha also looked forward to her time outdoors and fishing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Essie Green: sisters: Bessie Hamilton and Barbara Green.
Bertha is survived by her husband, John L. Riggins of the home; children: Hubert "Lee" Voss and wife, Diane of Phoenix, AZ, David Paul Voss and wife, Sylvia of Phoenix, AZ, Kenneth Ray "Kenny" Voss and wife, Dianna of Grover Beach, CA, Larry Eugene Voss and wife, Suzanne of Talala, Deborah Ann "Debbie" Mynatt and husband, Earl of Oologah, Marsha Lynn Miller of Claremore, and Mitzi Lou Ann Voss of Claremore; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Wiley Howard Green and wife, Roxanne of Claremore; and sister, Elsie Jean Scholer of Claremore.
