Betsy Mollette

Funeral service for Elizabeth Ruth "Betsy" Mollette will be 2 p.m., Fri., March 30, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Larry Conaway officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Fri. 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Betsy died Sun., March 25, 2012, at her home at the age of 79.

The daughter of Harmon Riddle and Willa Burgess (Alley) Ling was born March 19, 1933, in Matewan, WV. Betsy graduated from high school in Huntington, WV; and continued her education at Marshall College in Huntington. On June 17, 1961, she married James Jay Mollette in Huntington. In 1974, Betsy went to work for Lincoln Developmental Center in Lincoln, IL. She worked there until her retirement in 1991. For the next 23 years Betsy and Jim served as missionaries in Hong Kong with the Christian Church. In June of this year, they made their home in Claremore, and are members of Central Christian Church. Betsy enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, gardening, and reading.

Betsy is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Philip Ling.

She is survived by her husband, James of the home; children: Lisa Grundy and husband, Curt of Cleora, Kathy Byerly of Springfield, IL, and Jim Mollette and wife, Julie of Paducah, KY; and grandchildren: Kody Karhliker of Champaign, IL, Taylor Karhliker of Springfield, IL, Joshua and Jared Grundy both of Cleora, and Cullen, Caitlin, Carolyn, and Carleigh Mollette all of Paducah, KY.
