Betty Elizabeth Bailey was born on November 16, 1950 in Claremore, to Alonzo Rogers, Jr. and Gertrude (Johnson) Rogers. She was reared and educated in her birth community, graduating from Claremore High School. Following her schooling, Betty began a work career with Claremore Regional Hospital, (now Hillcrest Claremore) when she was 17. Her dedication to her job was apparent and she took great care of the staff on 2north. Betty retired once to foster children in her home for a time, but returned to the hospital she missed.
When Betty wasn’t at work or taking care of her family, you could find her at Mt. Zion Baptist Church playing the piano. She loved her music and enjoyed playing together with her son Anthony. She was at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 40 years, playing each and every Sunday and for the last 5 years she has used her God given talents at Greater Mt. Olive Church in Tulsa. Her priority was her family, especially her grandchildren. Betty seem to thrive around children, her own of course were most precious, but she would share her loving and caring spirit with any child she felt had a need. It was those qualities that endeared Betty to everyone she knew. She spent her spare time with her family and attended most all of the sporting events her grandkids were involved with.
A wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Betty will be missed by all who knew her. Those family members that survive include her children Kimberly Denise Lewis and husband Marcus, Anthony Lee Bailey, Kristy Denise Bailey and Jennifer Lynn Rogers all of Tulsa; her grandchildren William Scott Rogers, Ashlee DeAnn Mack, Martranise Sh-Kee Walton, Jasmine Elizabeth Mack, Martin Ezra Walton, Marche Unique Walton, Samiah DeShawn Rogers and Dauce Scott; her great grandchildren Zarria Lachaye Mack, Arriona Sherise Smith, Analyiah Kimbria Smith, Danielle Danae Jones, McKenzie Zaniya-Lashellez Rogers, Nevaeh Nicole Rogers, Cordell Marquise Lee Mack, Kaiden Donovan Mack, Khestyn Janae Mack, Mason Isiah Jones, and Naveah Rogers; her brothers Alonzo Rogers, Jr. of Yakima, Washington, Bobby Rogers of Austin, Texas, Charles Rogers and Tommy Rogers both of Tulsa and Roger Rogers of Beaumont, Texas; her sister Annette Rogers also of Tulsa; father of her children, Leroy Bailey, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dwight Rogers and her grandmother Eula Rogers and Delores.
