Funeral service for Willie "Bill" Ramm will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Reedemer Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Burger will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory.
Bill Ramm passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 13, 2011 at his home at the age of 83.
The son of Willie and Adela Ritter Ramm was born June 4, 1928 in Farwell, Texas. As a young boy he was raised in the New Braunfels, Texas area. There he attended the local Lutheran school. A few years later he and his family moved to New Mexico. While at work in Roswell he met Juanita "Nita" Payne. They were married December 15, 1948 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. In 1958 Bill and Nita moved to Claremore, Oklahoma, where his family owned and operated the Lucky Motel. Bill then worked for the local Ford dealership, for several years before opening his own auto body shop, Ramm's Body Shop, which was located on what is now Ramm Road. In 1977 Bill and his family moved from Ramm Road to Rocky Top Acres. There they had a pool where he helped teach his grandchildren to swim. He also began raising exotic animals such as ostrich, boar goats, and rheas. He loved sitting on his porch with his friends and family watching his animals and telling stories. Bill also made daily trips into Claremore to meet his friends for coffee at Carl's Jr.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Adela; granddaughter, Shawnette Hayden, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Survivors include his wife Nita Ramm of the home; daughters, Sandra Karpuk and husband Mike of Boulder, Colorado, Glenda Ramm of Claremore, and Debbie Hendrix and husband Stephen of Claremore; son, Robert Ramm and wife Debi of Claremore; grandchildren, Jessica Karpuk,William Matthew Hendrix and wife, Jamie, Bailey Kay Hendrix, Lacey Jean Hendrix, Selena Marlatt and husband, Aaron, and Alyssa Burr and husband, Jeremy and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Stethen, and Parker Hayden, Tabor, Teagan and Laney Marlatt, and Jayden Burr.
