Billie Jon Williams

A celebration of the life of Billie Jon Williams will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Claremore. Fellowship lunch will follow the service. Billie passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, December 11, 2016. She was 92.
Born on August 9, 1924 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Billie was one of three girls born to O.D. and Grayce Justice. She graduated from Claremore High School. She met Roy Leslie “R.L.” Williams while he was attending Oklahoma Military Academy. They began a high school friendship that turned into a lifelong commitment of love and devotion. Billie and R.L. were married November 16, 1949. As newlyweds R.L. and Billie attended Tulsa University where she earned her degree in teaching.
Billie and R.L. opened the Family Q Spot in 1969. Many will remember the Q Spot as a fun place to enjoy pool, foosball, pin ball, and chat with Billie and R.L. She always wanted to know everyone’s latest news and offer motherly advice to those who came by. She continued to serve her community through volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Belvidere, and Philbrook.
As an active member of the community, Billie was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a woman who cared about people, loved her family, and had a passion for adventure and travel. She loved playing cards, Bridge, Kings on the Corner, and Hands and Foot. Her favorite games being those she won. During the years, her strong spirit shined as she showed dogs and won ribbons. She even opened her family pool so children in the community could learn to swim. Some of those whom she taught their first strokes became competitive swimmers. Later in life her adventurous spirit did not cease as she embarked in a tap dancing class. As a wife, mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, teacher, and friend her life was one that influenced and served many.
Her legacy will live on in the lives of her family. Those who survive are children Jon Williams and Ray Anderson; grandchildren, Jenny Dunn, Zach Williams, and Jillian Magliulo; five great grandchildren; sister, Faith Akin; nieces, Kathy Butler and Karen Nelson and nephew, Kerry Akin; great nieces, Kathryn Nelson and Kaitlin Butler and great nephew, Christopher Butler. She was preceded by her parents; sister, Dortha Jane; and husband, R.L.
