Billy Jene Higeons passed away on February15, 2025 Billy Jene Higeons died at home surrounded by family in Claremore, Oklahoma, he was 92 years young.
Billy Jene Higeons was born on December 29, 1932 in Talala, Oklahoma. He graduated from Talala High School in 1950. Bill joined the United States Army in 1953 and served in Fort Rucker, Alabama and Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1955 back to his home state of Oklahoma Continuing his education after the service at North East Oklahoma A&M Miami, then attending Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, culminating with a Degree in Industrial Arts. Then went on to get his Teaching Certificate from Northeastern State University, Talequah.
He married Sarah Darlene Bradshaw March 1, 1957. They welcomed their children, Ricky in 1958, Billy in 1959 and Tonya in 1961.
Bill was the quintessential family man. He prided himself on being awake at 5 every morning to see the sunrise. He also loved spending time with his family. He had diverse interests including Motorcycles, classic cars, car racing, vintage tractors, and collecting just about anything. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, it seemed he always had a child on his lap and they would both be asleep
He was an extremely hard working man. He taught middle school for over 30 years in the Tulsa School System. He was a Fireman in Collinsville retiring after more than 20 years and a Part time Police Officer in Collinsville for over 50 years. Holding all of these jobs concurrently, as well as being a farmer, raising cattle and pigs, baling hay, and gardening, as well as doing most of his own maintenance on the machinery.
Billy is survived by his wife; Sarah Darlene (Bradshaw) Higeons, his children; Ricky Jene Higeons and wife Tammy Higeons, from Watova, Oklahoma, Billy Darrell Higeons and wife Rebecca Sue (Beckie) Higeons, from Chelsea, Oklahoma, Tonya Diann (Higeons) Morgan and husband Joe Morgan, from Owasso, Oklahoma; 8 Grand Children and 10 Great Grand Children and Siblings: Mary Killion, Jim Higeons, Clementine Meyers, Helen Peacock, and Joe Higeons
He is preceded in death by, his parents; Lola Bray Higeons and Clyde Higeons; siblings Carl Higeons and his wife Violet, Edgar Higeons and his wife Loeta, Robert Higeons, Chester Higeons and his wife Joanne. Billy Jene Higeons was a legend and Superman to all that knew him.
The Memorial service for Billy J. Higeons is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. February 25, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Talala at 203 Oak Street, Talala. Followed by a graveside burial ceremony at Fairview Cemetary in Talala.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in Casual attire, Overalls or denim.
