Billy Dean Madewell passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of 85. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 2:00pm at Inola Funeral Home.
Billy was born on September 18, 1938, in Huntsville, AR to Bradley and Nora (Combs) Madewell. He spent his formative years on a dairy farm in northwest Arkansas, attending school in Springdale and graduating with the class of 1956.
Shortly after high school, Billy met the love of his life, Darlene Karr, and they married on March 16, 1957, in Fayetteville, AR at Fayetteville First Baptist Church. They moved to Tulsa in 1958, where Billy began working at Production Manufacturing. In 1968, they settled in Inola, where they raised their children.
In 1975, Billy founded Madewell Machine Works Inc., which he successfully operated for 48 years. Billy and Darlene cherished their life together, enjoying square dancing, traveling, and their favorite destination, Hawaii. Billy had a passion for sports, fishing, and in recent years, raising dogs.
Billy was a dedicated family man, always prioritizing time with his children and grandchildren. He never missed a school event or ballgame.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Darlene, their son Aaron Madewell, and his brother Bobby Madewell.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Madewell and Robert Madewell and wife Winnie Madewell; granddaughter, Darlene Willingham and husband Ian; great-grandson, Kaden Willingham; sister-in-law, Virginia Madewell.
