Funeral service for Billy Gene Rader will be 1 p.m., Mon., Dec. 29, at Foyil Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Ward's Grove Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 3-6 p.m.

Bill passed away Tues., Dec. 23, 2014, in Claremore, at the age of 65.

The son of George Samuel and Juanita (Mohon) Rader was born Nov. 9, 1949, in Claremore. Bill attended the first and second grades at Begley Elementary in Tahlequah while his mother attended the university. He attended Foyil Schools from third grade until he graduated with the class of 1968. While in high school, Bill enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. On Nov. 9, 1967, Bill married Thressa June Mallory at Foyil Baptist Church.

Bill continued his education at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College where he received his associates degree; and Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, where he received his bachelor's degree with a double major in Education and History, and a master's degree in Education. Just after finishing his intern teaching, Bill was drafted in the last draft and he joined the U.S. Navy. He served two years of active duty at the Pentagon and two years in the Navy Reserve. Bill taught at Tiawah Schools from 1975 to 1978, Foyil Schools from 1979 to 1985, and Sequoyah Schools until his retirement in 2000. Through the years Bill served as Sequoyah Elementary principal and Sequoyah athletic director, and coached many sports, taught elementary and secondary courses.

Bill loved serving and being with his church family as a Deacon of Foyil Baptist Church. Bill also loved every aspect of hunting and fishing, watching it and doing it. Bill and his son, Chris, enjoyed participating in team roping together while Chris was in his teens. He also ran the Claremore Lake Bass Tournament and served on the Rogers County Fair Board for several years.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Rocky Ross.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Thressa of the home; children: Chris Rader and wife, Lisa, and Kelli Rader all of Claremore; sisters, Mary Ann Casey and husband, Joe, and Mohona Casse' all of Claremore; grandchildren: Jake, Jesse, and Jasper Rader; and several nieces and nephews.
