Memorial service for Billy Wayne "Bill" Vaught will be 1 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 19, at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Victor Bishop officiating.
Bill died Mon., Jan. 16, 2012, at his home at the age of 84.
The son of Charley Silas and Grace (Wright) Vaught was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Bokoshe. Bill attended Stigler High School, graduating in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army for two terms, one in World War II and the other in the Korean War. On Dec. 24, 1953, Bill married Dolores M. Cook in Bentonville, AR. They made their home in Tulsa, before moving to Inola in 1962. Bill worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a cable splicer, and when he retired in 1984, he worked as a switchboard installer. Bill enjoyed raising cattle, and attending cattle sales. He also enjoyed visiting with his old friends in Stigler, and feeding the birds outside his home.
Bill is preceded in death by his son, Charles Tim Vaught; his parents; brothers: C.B. and Gerald Vaught; and sisters: Anita Benham and Oleta LeNaire.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores of the home; children: Larry Vaught and wife, Charla, Janice Vaught, and David "Kim" Vaught all of Inola; grandchildren: Bebi Vaught-Magallez of Tulsa, Jerad Vaught of Inola, Dakota "Cody" Vaught and wife, Tamara of Oklahoma City, Joshua Vaught of Inola, and Zachary Roach of Inola; great-grandchildren: Tate and Tanner Vaught of Oklahoma City; and nieces, nephews, and other friends and loved ones.
