After graduation he attended Rogers State College and Tulsa University, and then began traveling with a couple of area bands, as a sound and lighting expert. For many years he traveled the country. However around 1996 he found himself on the open road as a professional truck driver. A few years later he began operating his own trucking company. Blake loved driving his truck. He had made mention that the only states he had not hauled in were California and Hawaii. In his spare time he could be found doing many different things, such as sailing, shooting, woodworking, and sharing his love of music through his vast collection of all types of music and professional DJ services.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bob Parkhurst.
