Funeral service for Bobby Ray Jones will be 11 a.m., Thurs., March 1, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ray Crawford officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Bobby died Fri., Feb. 24, 2012, in Flagstaff, AZ, at the age of 74.
The son of John Henry and Drew Ethel (Perkins) Jones was born May 1, 1937, in Muskogee. Bobby attended Muskogee Central High School, graduating in 1955. He continued his education at Northeastern State University receiving both his bachelor's and master's degrees. He worked on his PhD through Tulsa University. On Aug. 13, 1960, he married Jane Ann Yarborough in Tahlequah, and they made their home in Claremore. Bobby was a director of buildings, planning, and maintenance with Tulsa Public Schools. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and the Will Rogers Masonic Lodge. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing, and gardening. Bobby especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid OU and Dallas Cowboys football fan.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Helen Borovetz and Billie Goodman; and brothers: John Henry "Cotton" Jones and Kenneth Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann of the home; children: Bradley Jones of Claremore, Annette Knapp of Alamo, CA, and Julane Brown and husband, Bernard of Owasso; and grandchildren: Jessica Knapp, Kevin Knapp, Jr., Nicole Knapp, Mason Ray Brown, and Austin Michael Brown.
