Graveside service for Bonnie Mae Thompson will be 2 p.m., Tues., May 21, at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Alessi officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Bonnie passed away Fri., May 17, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Logan County, Guthrie, at the age of 87.
The daughter of Milo Sherman and Edith Mae (Snoddy) Payne was born June 27, 1925, in White Rock, MO. Bonnie attended school in Eureka Springs and Berryville, graduating from Berryville High School. She was a talented pianist and artist. On September 9, 1949, Bonnie married William Donald Thompson in Berryville, AR. They made their home and raised their children in Wichita, KS. Bonnie worked as a telegraph operator for Western Union. Around 1978 they moved to Claremore. Bonnie enjoyed interior design, upholstery, making flower arrangements, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 2005; her parents; brother, Bobby Payne; and granddaughter, Cindy Shanks.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Lester Whiteley of Claremore, Elaine Rutledge and husband, Gary of Kingston, Cathy Proffitt of Stillwater, and Joe Thompson of Wichita, KS; sister, Louise Reynolds and husband, Amos "Junior" of Beaver Lake, AR; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
