Memorial service for Brenda Joyce Applewhite will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, February 15, 2019, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Brenda passed from this life on February 8, 2019, at her home in Tulsa. She was 64 years old. She was born in Wilson, North Carolina on August 14, 1954, the daughter of Pauline Applewhite.
Brenda's favorite color was navy blue. She enjoyed listening to praise music, as she knew it had the power to lift her above her situations. No matter what she faced, she knew she did not face it alone. She was an adamant believer in Christ and his power! She truly believed that he was the lover of her soul.
Brenda loved the uniqueness of each of her children. She knew how to relate to each child, and reiterate the word of God regarding their individual purposes. Brenda's pride and joy was her five grandsons. It was amazing the way that she could relate to each of the boys. They loved her spirit. She enjoyed babysitting them and having them share how well they were doing.
Brenda was an avid reader, and a well educated woman. She completed her Masters in Social Psychology with honors. Everything she did was done with precision. She instilled a love of education in each of her children. Brenda viewed education as an honor to complete her degrees, and not a burden. She also excelled in instructional design.
She so wanted to start a non profit to advocate for the homeless population. She was compelled to share anything that she had, to empower those who were less fortunate. Her community loved her dearly, as they looked to her for advice and also good laughs about everyday life. She was a bright light to all those around her.
