Brenda Joyce Burk was born December 15th, 1948 in Beckley, WV to parents Douglas and Kathleen Fay [Albert] McCune, along with her sister Kitty Jean Hume. She attended Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, OH and went on to cosmetology school. From there she wed Roger Dean Burk in April of 1966 and raised two children, daughter Renee Lynn Estes and son Raymond Douglas Burk. Both children are married: Renee to Kenneth Estes and Raymond to Tina {Myrick} Burk.
Her life career was not only her family, but her work involved taking care of special need residents at Sunshine Children's Home in Maumee, OH where she worked from 1979 to 2006. Starting out as a direct care worker being hands on residents, moving up in rank until she was an integral part of the inner office workings. She often brought residents home and on special outings to special events and included them in many family gatherings. Upon her retirement, she moved from Swanton, Ohio to Claremore, Oklahoma where she lived with her husband Roger Burk and their two dogs.
Her joys were spending time with her family, taking them on family vacations and spending time with her parents, husband and children. her family grew in 1993 with the birth of her one and only grandson, Zachery, who she cheerfully admittedly love spoiling him. Zachery is now married and still resides in the Toledo, Ohio area with his wife Hannah. While her hobbies included hanging out by her pool and collecting antiques for her Victorian home, another of her favorite things was the Christmas season. Between decorating the house with a huge tree, to a yearly open house party for friends, it truly made her happy opening her home and having everyone she knew around her during the season.
