Funeral service for Woodrow Wilson "Buck" England will be 2 p.m., Mon., Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church of Chelsea with Rev. Richard Billings officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 2-6 p.m.
Buck died Wed., Sept. 7, 2011, at Wood Manor Nursing Home in Claremore at the age of 96.
He was born January 14, 1915, on his grandfather's Cherokee Indian Allotment south of Chelsea. Buck lived his entire life in the Chelsea area. He attended England School that his grandfather helped establish and Bushyhead School. He was the oldest member of the England/Beck family and had received that award for five years but was unable to attend the 2011 reunion. He was a farmer/rancher/oilman along with many other endeavors. He and his son, Dennis, established the Jiffy Mart in Chelsea in the 70's.
He is a member of the First Christian Church in Chelsea.
Most of his life he lived on the family farm on Highway 28 south of Chelsea, which was his mother's Cherokee Indian Allotment. For the past four years, he has resided at his daughter's home in Chelsea.
Buck is preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Hopkins; his step-father, Isaac Hopkins; infant grandson, Dennis Woodrow England; and son-in-law, Bill Alderman.
He is survived by wife of 73 years, Ida Douglas England of the home; sons: Dennis England and wife, Pauletta of Tulsa, and Bob England of Chelsea; daughters: Jenan Alderman of Chelsea, and Linda Phillips and husband, Sam of Owasso; grandchildren: Bill A. Alderman, Jr. and wife, Debbie, Michael S. Alderman and wife, Lori, Dennise England Stalnaker and husband, Woody, Theresa England Compos and husband, Eddie, Anissa England McCullough, Jeff Patton, Brad Patton and wife, Sherrie, Mason Phillips and wife, Kelly, Jon Phillips and wife, Keina, Scot England and wife, Tera, Stacy England, and Fonda Rose England; great-grandchildren: Kameron Alderman, Jessica Alderman, Hannah Alderman, Hannah Stalnaker, D.J. Hall and wife, Allison, Kara Hall Bailey and husband, Drew, Joey Hall, Daniel Hall, Stevi Holmes, T.J. Holmes, Auzzlyn Patton, Billy Patton, Brian Lane Phillips, Kyson Phillips, Markus Minshall, Samuel Phillips, Jaxon England, Taylor England, and Triston England; and great-great-grandchildren: Logan Bailey, Daxton Bailey, and Fernando Venezuela.
