Buck Gulley

Funeral service for Carl Edward "Buck" Gulley will be 2 p.m., Thurs., June 13, at First Baptist Church of Chelsea with Pastor Jay McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Buck passed away Sat., June 8, 2013, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 77.
The son of Thomas Monroe and Jessie Belle (Ayers) Gulley was born June 24, 1935, in Stigler. He attended Stigler schools before moving to Tulsa. A short time later he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his discharge Buck returned to Tulsa. There he began working in the metal plating industry. One day with the help of his sister he was introduced to Katherine "Kathy" Todd. They were married on April 21, 1955, in Tulsa. They made their home in Tulsa, and would soon start to work for American Airlines. He worked as a Crew Chief for many years. In 1976 Buck and his family moved to the outskirts of Chelsea. He loved living in the country where he could raise cattle. However, that wasn't his only side job. Being an avid outdoors man, he and a friend started The Gun Shop in Tulsa. In 1989 he opened another gun shop in Chelsea called the 89'er. He was a great gunsmith and could fabricate any part needed to make or repair guns. Other hobbies included spending time on the lake skiing, riding motorcycles, fishing and hunting.
Buck is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jessie Gulley, daughters, Carla Gulley and Stacey Mack.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; daughter, Tammy Sabharwall and husband, Victor of Chelsea; sister, Helen Morgan and husband, Ray of Chelsea; grandchildren: Jason Sabharwall and wife, Amber, Amy Hughes and husband, Clint, Jessica Shrum and husband, Justin, Kyle Mack and wife, Alishia, and Kelby Mack; great-grandchildren: Joshua and Kaylee Sabharwall, and Hayley and Isaac Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
