Bud Maner

June 18, 1940 — October 14, 2010

Funeral service for lifetime Inola resident, Edward Lee "Bud" Maner, will be 11 a.m., Tues., Oct. 19, at First Baptist Church of Inola with Revs. Blake Gideon and Chad Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Bud was born on June 18, 1940 in Broken Arrow, Ok to Elmer Lee Maner and Gladys Julia Combs. Bud passed away late Thursday night, October 14, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital at the age of 70.
He attended Inola Public Schools all twelve years graduating in 1958. Upon graduation he joined the United States Army on the “buddy system” with his best friend Lemoin Brunson. He served two years active duty and four years inactive duty. He was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany.
He married Catherine Rebecca (Becky) Wildey on October 22, 1960 in Inola, OK where they have made their home for 50 years.
Bud became employed at Nelson Electric in 1961. He remained there for 38 years as a production control manager. He retired in 1999.
Bud was a member of the Claremore Mosonic Lodge. He was an avid Fisherman his whole life, quickly becoming a pro at telling fishing stories. His catch was always larger than his “#1 pardner’s Lemoin’s”. In later years he became the Professional BullRiders #1 fan. He never missed an event.
He was a faithful and active Christian attending First Baptist Church in Inola. One of his greatest achievements was helping with the prayer garden outside the sanctuary built in memory of his deceased grandson, Ethan who passed at the age of 13.
Bud was extremely proud and was often guilty of bragging on his three children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Gladys Maner, two sisters Juanita Mullikin and Betty Thompson, and his beloved grandson Ethan Maner.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky Maner. Daughter Jennifer Farrar of Tulsa, son Steve and his wife Liz of Inola, and daughter April and husband Jeff Blackwell of Sequoyah. One sister Wilma Willis of Inola. His eight grandchildren Tyler Farrar, Blane Maner, Chandler Farrar, Madie Blackwell, Nash Blackwell, Seth Maner and Mary-Grace Maner. Two great-grandchildren G unner and Baylee Farrar.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Inola First Baptist Church Prayer Garden.
