Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Francis "Bud" Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Father Sylvanus Amaobi will officiate. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Rosary service will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2015 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel.
Edward passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the age of 83.
The son of Frank Elmer and Clara Sack Smith was born February 8, 1932 in Neosho, Missouri. As a young boy he and his family moved to Avant, Oklahoma. There he attended Avant Schools graduating with the class of 1950. Shortly after graduation Edward entered the United States Army. He served until his discharge in October of 1954. He then returned home to Avant. There he quickly found work in the oil field business. He worked for companies such as Shell and McBride Oil, before starting his own business. As time passed Edward retired and sold his part of the company. Then around 2012 he moved to Claremore.
Edward was known as a quiet and generous person. He loved to to take drives in his truck, go fishing and play dominoes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara, and sister, Rita Hollowell.
Survivors include his sisters, Patricia A. Gray of Bartlesville, Katherine England of Claremore and Greta Dallabetta of Loveland, Colorado.
