Born April 2, 1962 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Charles Walter Battenfield and Jewell Faye (Washington) Baker, Brett attended Claremore Schools, graduating with the class of 1980. With a strong work ethic from his mother, Brett began working at a young age. He owned and operated a backhoe before he could drive, working with different contractors. Brett also worked for Murphy USA as their Sr. Project Manager, before retiring just a few months ago.
A family man, Brett was a wonderful provider for his girls. He not only made sure they had everything they needed or even wanted, but he taught them great life lessons. Some of those lessons included taking care of livestock, welding, and always doing your best and not settling for anything less. He instilled in them by example, the importance of being honest and compassionate in all of their dealings. They had fun too; riding motorcycles was one of the many things he enjoyed with them. Brett also enjoyed fishing every chance he could. A grill master, he could cook up a storm and loved sharing his chicken, ribs or pulled pork with everyone. He also loved to joke and to give you a scare every now and then. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do and He was always willing to help anyone in need. Nothing could melt his heart more than his granddaughter Brynli and in his eyes she could do nothing wrong. His time with her probably was his most favorite time and he lived by his motto “the best thing you can spend on your kids is time”.
Those family members that survive include his daughter Brooke Dudley and her husband Matt; his granddaughter Brynli Ann Dudley; his sister Brenda Lagers; his niece Lynse Lagers; his brothers Darrell Battenfield and wife Shelly and John G. Baker and wife Jenny; his nieces Delayna Trease and husband Adam, Keara Battenfield and Callie Battenfield; nephews Jake Baker, Blake Battenfield and Peyton Battenfield.
Brett was preceded in death by his daughter Brandi Ann Battenfield; his mother and father Faye and John Baker; his father Charles Battenfield and his brother-in-law Michael Lagers.
