C.D. Byers, Jr.

Services for C.D. Byers, Jr. will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, at Verdigris Assembly of God Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Pastors Michael Abel and Curtis Owens will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1pm--8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm--8pm.

C.D. passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the age of 65.

Clellan Dee "C.D." Byers, Jr. was born November 11, 1949 in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Clellan Dee Byers Sr. and Alberta (Winn) Byers. He graduated high school from Seminole with the class of 1968. C.D. enlisted in the U.S. Air force and proudly served his country from 1972--1977. During his time in the Air force, C.D. worked through the ranks and became a sergeant and was also a survival instructor (SERE). On March 23, 1979, C.D. married Evelyn R. (Ostendorf) Bordwine and the couple made their home in the Claremore area. He continued his education by earning a bachelor of arts degree from Washington State College and a bachelor of science degree from Northeastern Oklahoma State University. He has been associated with the Oklahoma Real Estate Association since 1978 with a GRI, CRS, ABR designations.

C.D. enjoyed many hobbies, which included golf, photography, landscaping, motorcycle riding and racquetball. He played racquetball all over the northwest, including Canada.

Those family members that survive include his wife of 36 years Evelyn Byers of their home in Claremore; his sons Alan Bordwine and wife Christi and Gary Bordwine all of Claremore; his grandchildren Melissa Stammer and husband Michael of Owasso, Laura Bordwine of Claremore, Hannah Marcum and husband Shawn of Kiefer, Heather Bordwine of Tulsa and Tyler Haley also of Claremore; his great grandchildren Maddison, Payeton, Charlotte, Jaxon, Emmitt, Zaiden and 2 on the way; his sister Nancy Woodfin of Owasso; nieces Aimee Daughtry and husband Tim and Paula Adair; great nephews Zac Culbertson, Christian McQuiston and Zach Mitchell; his aunt Norma Burkes of Fritch, Texas and his cousins Sue Smith and Debbie Knox and husband Clyde; good friends from Washington State Dave and Diane Retter, Leslie and Scott Sautell, Jared and Kelly Retter and Ray and Marsha Spooner. C.D. was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Christopher Woodfin.
