The son of Glen and Lucy Ward Hefner was born February 18, 1944 in Chelsea, Oklahoma. As a young boy he was raised in rural Rogers County where he attended Bushyhead and Chelsea schools. In 1964 he joined the Oklahoma National Guard. While serving, he also began working at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita. It was while working there that he eventually met Carolyn M. Pinkston. They were married February 16, 1970, and made their home in Chelsea. Over the next several years Carl worked for the Hesston-Danhuser Corporation. He then went to work for area coal mining jobs before going to work in the early part of the 1990's for Rogers County. He worked there until he retired in 2012 as District #1 road foreman. Carl was also very active in the Foyil Assembly of God Church. There he taught Sunday School as well as helped with many local ministries. In his spare time you would find him gardening, tinkering with his tractor, or enjoying his favorite pastime of being with his family. He was a devout, loving man.
