Carla Jean (Jordan) Evans, age 68 and resident of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away after complications due to strokes on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Carla Jean Evans was born February 1, 1955 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Carl Edward Jordan and Betty Jo (Workmon) Jordan. She was raised in Kansas City and the Stillwater area. She was a graduate of Perkins High School (1973). Carla attended Oklahoma State University (1974- 1977) earning her bachelor’s degree in Library Science. On December 31, 1977, Carla married Steve Evans in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They were both active with the Stillwater church of Christ where she commenced her life with Christ. According to Carla, they were blessed with three daughters: Rebecca, Jenny, and Amy. During their life together they lived in Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. They had been married for 45 years at the time of her passing.
Carla was an elementary media specialist and loved spreading her love for reading on to future generations whether it be to family members or members of the community. While she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and antiquing, Carla’s pride and joy was her family. She craved any and all time that they could spend together. They enjoyed vacationing around the country together, camping and canoeing, going to community events, and meeting up for picnics in different parks. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Evans of Claremore, Oklahoma: her children, Rebecca Evans, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Jenny Akin and her husband, Brent, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Amy Schnell and her husband, Jeremiah, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two grandsons Riley Akin and Wyatt Akin of Claremore, Oklahoma; her brother Edward Jordan, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and sister, Brenda Phillips, of Clarkridge, Arkansas; as well as by numerous extended family members whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Betty Jordan and her in-laws Leon and Bertha Evans.
