Joan was born on September 25, 1939, to Arla and Pearl (Mills) Rea in Russellville, OK. Joan grew up in Quinton, Oklahoma, where she attended Quinton High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. After high school, she began working at Rena's Diner, where fate brought her together with James Harmon. The couple began dating and were married on June 25, 1959. They started their life together in Manhattan, KS and in 1961, they moved to west Tulsa. In 1976, they settled in Inola, Oklahoma, where they created a home filled with love and happiness, and they would spend the rest of their lives together.

Joan worked for many years at American Airlines before her retirement. Her passion for cooking extended beyond her own family as she loved to cook for others, finding joy in feeding her friends. Spending time with her family was at the heart of Joan's life, and she had also enjoyed talking on the phone.

Joan and her husband shared a love for travel and also delivered cars together, for Jame's business. Watching her grandchildren play sports, especially ball games, brought joy to Joan. She was also an avid fan of OU Football and loved watching her favorite team whenever they played on TV.

Joan will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her son Darren, and grandson Brian Harmon, brothers Bobby Rea and John Rea, and sisters Arlene Criner, Billye Cowan, and Peggy Fagg.

Joan leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She is survived by her son Kent Harmon, daughter Thea Moss, and husband Greg. Grandchildren, Brandon Harmon, Ryan Moss and wife Chelsi, Taylor Moss, and Gage Mullen, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
