Funeral service for Cathy Lynn Cruse will be 10 a.m., Wed., Aug. 10, at First Baptist Church with Bro. Sam Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Ridge Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Cathy passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Cathy was the daughter of Lee and Shirley Cruse. She was born on July 29, 1956 at Camp Pendelton, California. She started school in California and continued at Sequoyah. She graduated from Sequoyah High School in 1974.
Cathy worked various jobs throughout her life: a seamstress at a baby clothing factory, an assistant school secretary at White Oak School system, a baker at a local factory, a fabric associate at Walmart, and also had a custom drapery business. Her favorite job was working in the office at Claremore Hospital.
At 8 years old, Cathy became a diabetic. She lost her eye sight in 1983 when she was 27 years old. She had kidney failure at 30 years old and as a result she received a kidney from her mother that lasted 32 years.
Even through her blindness, Cathy was very talented. She could sew, knit, and crochet. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Claremore.
Cathy is survived by her father, Lee Cruse; siblings: Sherry and Randy McCuistian, Kay and Steve Burrus, and Bob Cruse. She has numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and friends. Her best friend was Alfred McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Cruse.
