Visitation for Cecil Lawrence Davis will be 1-8 p.m., Wed., Nov. 13, at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Fri., Nov. 15, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie.
Cecil passed away Sat., Nov. 9, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital Tulsa at the age of 86.
The son of John Melton and Bertha (Stockton) Davis was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Ft. Cobb. Cecil was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during WWII. After his discharge he met Delores Jean Tsoodle. They were married on Dec. 4, 1950 in Anadarko. Shortly after they were married they moved to Broken Arrow for work. They made their home in Carnegie before moving to Claremore in 1968. Cecil was a contractor and builder with the Union and worked in Oologah, Jenks, Washita, and McAlister. He was hardworking and lived by his word, an honest man. His hobbies included upholstery, woodcarving, watching his grandkids play sports, and working on cars in his younger years.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Carroll, Roy, and Bob Davis; and sisters: Eva Trull and Hazel Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of the home; son, Donnie Davis of Claremore; daughter, Jeanice Lewis of Claremore; brother, Doyle Davis and wife, Betty of Ft. Cobb; sister, Thelma Lincoln of Oxnard, CA; grandchildren: Cecil D. Lewis of Tulsa, Kelby Davis of Claremore, and Brody Davis of Claremore; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
