Services for Charlene Crain will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday February 8, 2014 at MMS-Payne Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 till service time.
Charlene (Hayes) Crain was born to Charlie and Beulah (Bryant) Hayes on June 29, 1924, in Soper, OK. She passed from this life February 4, 2014 in Claremore at the age of 89 years.
Charlene attended Sugar Creek Schools in Soper, OK, located directly across from the Hayes farm in the Sugar Creek community. She completed eight grades in the one-room schoolhouse. As a young adult she married William E. Flanagan and had two children, William (Bill), and Judy.
Charlene worked at various employment during her adult years, including nurse aide, factory work, and teacher’s aide, mostly in the Antlers and Hugo area. Through the years, she attended the United Methodist Church. Charlene played piano “by ear” and was quite talented. Charlene was a good mother, wife, sister, and friend, always making her two children and family a priority.
In 1985 Charlene married L.G. Crain where they made their home in Antlers, OK. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Charlene is survived by her son William E. Flanagan Jr. (Bill) and wife Lou of Claremore, OK, two grandsons, William E. Flanagan III (Beau) and wife Tanja of Silver Spring, MD, and John Rogers and wife Debbie of Edmond, OK. Step-grandchildren include Matt Truitt of Owasso, and Tiffany Truitt Fitzsimmons and husband Matt of Bartlesville, and 4 great-grandchildren, Nick and Josh Rogers, Romy Flanagan, and Jaxon Truitt.
Surviving nieces and nephew include Doris Ann Forney of Amarillo, TX, Leah Chance of Ft. Worth TX, and Charles Nowell, Borger, TX. She is also survived by several
great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband L.G. Crain, her parents Charlie and Beulah Hayes, daughter Judy Rogers, sisters Helen “Lucille” Hayes, Nadine Nowell, brother Woodrow Hayes, and daughter-in-law, Connie Flanagan.
