Funeral service for Charles Clabe Dirickson Jr. "Chuck" will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, at the First United Methodist Church of Claremore. Pastor Jay McAlister will officiate. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, December 6, from 1-8 p.m., family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
Chuck passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his home in Chelsea at the age of 64.
The son of Charles Clabe and Patsy DeNoya Dirickson Sr. was born January 31, 1947 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. As a young boy he and his family moved to Vinita. There he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. After his 8th grade graduation he enrolled in Vinita Public Schools. He was a member of the graduating class of 1965. Wanting to continue his education, Chuck enrolled at Oklahoma State University. His freshman year he pledged Phi Kappa Tau, and was initiated into the fraternity later that year. The first day of class his sophomore year he met Donna Webb an incoming freshman. They were married May 11, 1968 in Shawnee. He and Donna continued to live in Stillwater; while Chuck finished his degree in journalism. He worked for the school newspaper the O'Colly, until he graduated in 1970. His first job after graduation took him to Tulsa, where he began working for F&M bank. In March of 1977 wanting to raise his family in a smaller community, he and his family moved to Chelsea. He began working for First National Bank of Chelsea, until taking a job in Claremore. The next several years of work found Chuck working for Rogers County Bank, First Bank and retiring from Grand Bank in April of 2009. While in Claremore he was an active part of the community. He helped support the United Way, served on the boards of Rogers County Youth Shelter, Lions Club and the Rogers County OSU Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Chelsea and Will Rogers round up clubs. Chuck also loved traveling with his friends and family. There were numerous trips to Destin, Las Vegas, and Colorado for skiing. He was a lifetime supporter of OSU and a season ticket holder for many years. Hunting, golfing, horses, cattle and cooking were a few of his hobbies, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother Patsy Dirickson.
Survivors include his wife Donna of the home; son, Charles Clabe "Trey" Dirickson III, and wife Merrilee of Algonquin, Illinois; daughter, Kelley Winsett and husband Luke of Altus; dad, Charles "Roundy" Dirickson, Sr. of Vinita; grandchildren, Lillian and Lawson Dirickson, and Grey, Rawley and Nash Winsett; sister, Jan Marshall and husband Richard of Hinsdale, Montana; nieces and nephews, Brett and Lacey Marshall and Bradley Marshall; aunt, Ruth Dirickson, and many other great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
