Funeral service for Charles David "Chuck" Embrey will be 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel.
The son of Charles and Mamie (Freeland) Embrey was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Sperry, Osage County. He graduated from Sperry High School in 1934, and then went to work with the CCC for 2-1/2 years. He also worked with the National Forests and and the GRDA Dam in 1939. On Oct. 2, 1938, Charles married Katharine Barnes at the Vinita courthouse. Chuck served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and then made his home in Los Angeles where he served with the LAPD for 21 years. He returned to Oklahoma and went to work with the Department of Public Safety until he was 70 years old. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who he loved to joke with.
Chuck is survived by his children: Linda McGee of Tulsa, and Charles Embrey of Huntington Beach, CA; grandsons, David and Curtis; and daughter-in-law, Carol Teff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; his parents; brother, Cletus; sisters: Irene and Vivian; and son-in-law, Robert Francis McGee.
