Service for Charles Edward Taylor will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at Dawes Cemetery, Chelsea, Oklahoma.
Charles was born August 27, 1936 at Chelsea, Oklahoma to Frank Taylor and Lilly Margaret Reavis Taylor. Charles was an only child. He passed away on June 5, 2023 at Conroe Medical Center, Conroe, Texas of Pneumonia.
Charles attended Chelsea and Talala Schools. Graduating from Talala High School in 1955. Charles excelled at baseball and basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Joie Valk on March 5, 1955 in Nowata, Oklahoma. He went to work for Cities Service Oil Company in Bartlesville., Oklahoma, and attended night classes at the University of Tulsa. Commuting four nights a week for six years to get his BA in Business Administration. During his years with Cities Service, he attended many extra hours of various company sponsored seminars to increase his knowledge in Corporate Business. Charles retired from Cities Service Oil, (now Citgo), in December 1984. In June of 1985 he relocated to Houston, Texas and was employed as Vice-President of Coastal Corporation's Lease Crude Oil Department. Charles was known throughout the Oil Industry as someone to call on when any knowledge about Crude Oil was needed. Coastal was sold to El Paso Corporation in 2001, and Charlie retired from El Paso at the time.
Charlie's favorite pastime was sitting on his back porch and fishing Lake Conroe. Whether or not if he as fishing in Alaska, big game hunting in west Texas, or dove hunting in Mexico, Charlie was doing what he loved.
He was preceded in death parents, Frank and Margaret (Dutch) Taylor and son-in-law Paul Watson. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Joie; two children, daughter Terri Lynn Watson of Cleveland, Oklahoma and a son Frank David Taylor and wife Edna of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Taylor Nicole Watson also of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
