Visitation will be at Chelsea Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Sunday, May 10, from 2-6 pm. Chauncey passed away at his home in Big Cabin on Wednesday, May, 2020. He was 83 years old.
Chauncey was born November 26, 1936, in Claremore to Emmett and Sarah DeVore. He grew up in the Claremore area until the age of 15, when his family moved to the Chelsea area, where he attended Chelsea High School, graduating with the class of 1955. Chauncey met the love of his life, Roberta Sue Breshears, at Council Grove Church. They were married on September 12, 1960. Their first home was in Claremore, and they eventually moved to Chelsea.
Chauncey worked at many different jobs during his career. He worked for a time at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, then worked on the pipeline in the Tulsa area. This is where he learned how to operate heavy equipment. He eventually began working for Dr. Duke, running a bulldozer to clear land and build ponds. After retiring from heavy equipment operating, he did custom hay baling and hauling, and raised cattle at his home in the Chelsea area.
In his spare time, Chauncey enjoyed many pursuits, such as fishing with Clint Malone, hunting coon and quail, playing fast-pitch softball, and riding and breaking horses. He also loved spending time with his grand kids, watching them play sports and taking them fishing.
Chauncey was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ronnie DeVore.
He is survived by his wife Roberta; children Donnie DeVore and wife Linda, Roger DeVore and wife Amy, Brian DeVore, Connie Porter and husband Jay, and Patty Killion and husband David; grandchildren Danielle Barnes, Donnie DeVore, Jr., Jason DeVore, Kyle DeVore, Justin Porter, Chase Killion, Emily DeVore, Nick DeVore, Dyllan DeVore, and Cody DeVore, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; brother Roy DeVore and wife Virginia; sister Vida Morgan and husband Everett; and sister-in-law Betty DeVore.
