Graveside service for Chelsea resident Cheryl Ann Ritzman will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Winganon Cemetery. Visitation will be at Chelsea Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 1-8 pm on Wednesday, June 3. Cheryl left her home in Chelsea for her heavenly home on Saturday, May 30, 2020. She was 61 years old.
The daughter of Jimmie Joe Hayes and Betty Sue (Robinson) Hayes was born March 31, 1959 in Nowata, OK. She spent most of her life in Northeastern Oklahoma, graduating from Alluwe High School in 1977. She attended Claremore Junior College from 1977-1978. After college, she worked at Burgess Norton for a few years.
Eventually a friend introduced her to Gregory Lawrence Ritzman. The two hit it off immediately, and were married three months later, on July 30, 1983 at the home of Shug and Woody Hayes in Winganon. The newlyweds lived in Perry for a short time, then moved back to the Winganon area, where they raised their two children.
Cheryl was a talented homemaker who always made sure her family was well taken care of. She loved to cook for them and spend time with them, especially her four grandchildren. She was also very involved with her church, Winganon Baptist. She taught herself to play piano and played for services, taught Sunday School, and shared her time and talents wherever they were needed.
Some of her other hobbies included sewing, crocheting, crafting, taking photos, fishing at the crappie hole, sitting in her swing, and spoiling and loving her grandchildren.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Hayes, her niece Kaysie Reed Shrum, and her great-nephew Garrett Jr. Reed.
Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, Greg Ritzman, children Matt Ritzman and Keri Fuller and husband Steven, mother, Sue Hayes, grandchildren Braedy, Calvin, Dawson, and Ayris Fuller, and siblings Danny Hayes and wife Angela, Debbie Shrum and husband Mark, and Sandra Mathews and husband Eddy, and a host of friends, church family, and extended family.
