Clay Reed

August 17, 1965 — August 16, 2014

Howard "Clay" Reed passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014, one day before his 49th birthday.

He was born August 17, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was originally named Don Quannah Vaught, Jr. When he was 2 years old, he was adopted by his mother's husband and name changed to Howard "Clay" Reed--mother, Shirley Clayrene Reed and step-father, Hershel Reed.

Clay was in a severe car accident when he was only 14 and we almost lost him then. He never met a stranger and loved most everyone he ever met. In 2002, he married Cassandra Jane Smith and they were married 5 years before a divorce. There were no children.

Clay was preceded in death by one half sister, Debra Vaught, and survived by one half-brother, Eric Shawn Reed, who works for Sim Air, Bixby, OK, and also an Inola Volunteer Fireman.

Clay graduated from Inola High School in 1988, loved to fish, hunt, drive, watch wrestling on TV, play slot machines at the casino, and hang out with his buddies.

Surviving family includes mother, Shirley Clayrene Reed; step-dad, Hershel Reed, brother, Eric S. Reed, wife, Susan Jane, and their twins, Landon and Logan of Inola; father, Don Quannah Vaught and wife, Marilyn of Owasso; Uncle Dent Vaught of Inola; his son, Ricky Vaught of Inola and family; niece, Denita (Vaught) and husband, Charles Hancock and family; Uncle Dale Vaught and wife, Barbara (Orender) Vaught and family; and many, many friends.
