Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Cornerstone Church of Collinsville with family greating friends from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Clinton Wayne Atwell came into the world on September 22, 1959 and was welcomed as the second child of JC and Patsy Atwell. He left a hole in our hearts by passing into his eternal heavenly home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the age of 58, after a valiant fight for his life.
Raised along with his two brothers, Tony and Dale, the Atwell family lived in the Dawson, Oklahoma area, moved to Haskell and then later Collinsville, and lastly Vera, Oklahoma where he enjoyed a wonderful, simple country life.
Clint started working for Moore Insulation at the age of 17 and remained for 30 years. He spent some time working on Atwell Ranch in Wynona, and most recently before his illness he worked for Mow Town, Inc. Clint was always a hard and loyal worker no matter where he was.
Clint loved his friends, trail riding with his round-up club The Cowpokes, and was a multi-year contestant in the International Cavalcade as a team member of the Pony Express team, and men’s barrel racing. He was happy in the saddle on the back of his horse Classy, and later her foal Midget. Clint was a proficient pool player and enjoyed a good 3 Ball tournament, but mostly he treasured that time being with his friends, enjoying a cold beer and trading good stories at “the Office”.
Clint was a friend to everyone. He was the friend you called when you needed help with any job no matter how big, small or dirty. He didn’t have the word “No” in his vocabulary when being asked for help, he was always there and willing.
A true charmer with a sweet crooked smile and easy way, he immediately made one feel comfortable and was from time to time known to be just a little bit of a flirt with the ladies. He always looked handsome in his pearl snapped shirt, and smelled even better wearing his favorite Stetson.
Clint was honest, genuine, strong, wise and loving. His loving nature was most evident in his relationship with his wife Kelli (Berg), whom he met on a blind date set up by friends, and was basically love at first site. From that first date they were inseparable and married on February 12, 2000 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas; they were blessed enough to spend two days shy of 18 happy years together. Kelli is a strong willed girl, and Clint had the artful patience to handle her, and was goodnatured enough to be drawn into her lively antics; making their life together exciting, comical, fulfilling. and a once in a lifetime love story.
Clint will be abundantly missed by his adoring wife Kelli Ann, his father JC, brothers Tony and Dale along with their families, and a multitude of other family and friends.
Proceeding Clint in death and waiting for him as he entered heaven was his mother Patsy, and his best friend Kevin Morrison.
