Funeral service for Colie Mae Thomas will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Chelsea Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Markham officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Home in Claremore Wednesday 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends from 6 - 8 p.m.
Colie passed away Sat., Aug. 31, 2013, at her home at the age of 83.
The daughter of James P. and Mae L. (Shinn) Williams was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Bartlesville. She was raised in the Tulsa area where she attended Central High School. After graduating in1947, Colie began working for F&M Bank in Tulsa. She retired in 1992 after many years of service. However her love of animals also earned her jobs working as a clerk for the Collinsville and Pryor Livestock Barns. Colie also loved the rodeo. She participated in bronco and bull riding, and was known to say that she left the barrel racing to the women. However as she grew older still wanting to compete she began barrel racing. In her spare time she loved listening to country music at Cains collecting Indian art and shopping. She was also a member of Cowboy Junction Church in Vinita.
Colie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mae Williams, and brother Ray Williams.
She is survived by her sons: James Richard Bevenue, Michael Duwayne Bevenue, and Carl Lynn Bevenue and wife, Marcia all of Tulsa; grandchildren, Chris, Jerrad, Jamie, Cory, Daniel, Tricia, Sean, Mitch, Ryan and Mycala. and several great-grandchildren.
