Let’s celebrate the life of Connie Jean Pate. Connie Jean Pate (Winters) was born September 1, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, to the parents of Wanda Lee Winters (MaGruder) and William Ester Winters. Connie lost her battle with cancer on October 27, 2024 at the age of 61 in her home in Claremore, Oklahoma, surrounded by family.
Connie was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren by attending as many activities, family get-togethers and family vacations as she could. From getting a thermos full of hot soup on cold football game nights to watching outdoor swim meets in 100 plus degree weather, she was always ready to cheer on her children and grandchildren. At wrestling tournaments, everyone could hear her throughout the gym cheering on her sons. Even while battling cancer the last three years, she would make as many football and basketball games, swim meets and tennis tournaments as her body would allow, to watch and support her grandchildren. If she was unable to make it to an activity, she would ask how they did and tell her grandchildren that she loved them.
Family get-togethers for countless birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Fourth of July were something Connie looked forward to every year. Towards the end of her battle with cancer she was able to attend her 61st birthday party where friends and family got to celebrate with her. She got to enjoy amazing food (the menu she picked for her daughter-in-law and grandchildren to cook) and wonderful company. Connie enjoyed sharing stories and memories with her family and friends at all the family gatherings.
Family vacations were never boring with Connie. Whether she was giving us her opinion on how you should drive, where you should turn or her son scaring her while she was sleeping in the car, we had a good time. One of Connie’s favorite vacations was going to Disney World with her grandchildren and family.
Connie will be missed by all that knew her. She might have been small, but she had a big personality. If you did not want to hear the truth, Connie was not the person to ask for an opinion. There will never be anyone like her. She enjoyed her time working/owning Ann’s Cleaners and meeting so many people over the last 40 years. We know her memory will live on through the friendships she made over the years.
In 1981, Connie married Tim Pate, Sr. in Inola, OK, and later had two sons. Connie is survived by ex-husband Tim Pate, Sr.of Claremore, son Tim Pate, Jr. of Clarmeore, son Greg Pate, daughter-in-law Jodee Pate and grandchildren Aiden and Elizabeth Pate of Claremore, three brothers and one sister. Connie is preceded in death by both parents and one sister.
Per Connie’s request there will be no funeral service or memorial.
