Funeral service for Leon "Cotton" Green will be 2 p.m., Tues., Sept. 15, at Foyil Assembly of God with Pastor Darren Hull and Pastor Jack Damico officiating. Burial will follow at Winganon Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-5 p.m.
Cotton passed away Sat., Sept. 12, 2015, at his home at the age of 77.
The son of Orville Green and Elsie (Nicholas) Green was born June 29, 1938, in Wagoner. Cotton grew up in the Chelsea area. After high school he joined the Marine Corps and served at Camp Pendleton, CA. Cotton worked at various jobs including a coal company, construction worker, and welder. He also worked as a boat builder, where he was known as one of the best in the business. Even opening his own business, Lake Master Bass Boats. He later worked for many years for Rogers County District #3.
Cotton enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and attending church. He loved singing especially with the quartet. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Elsie Green; and brother, Clarence Green.
Cotton is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gladys (Pinkston) Green of the home; children: Melva Ann Green of Chelsea, Lonnie Green and wife, Chyerl of Stillwater, Cyndia Shaw of Tulsa, Gina Hull and husband, Darren of Chelsea, Angela Green of Chelsea, and Matthew Green of Chelsea; grandchildren: Amber Leeman and husband, Jerry, Tye Riley, Kyla Smith and husband, Anthony, Derek Hull, Dillon Lewis, and Luke and Lex Green; great-grandchildren: Jadynn Leeman, Lyla Green, Trevor and Addison Smith, and Reagan, Avery, Kaydence, Bentley, and Braiden Riley; brothers and sisters: Don Green and wife, Margie of Chelsea, Peggy Baker of Miami, Collen Jackson and husband, Jerry of Nowata, Leonard Green of Nowata, Debbie Kay Carrington of Tulsa; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
