Visitation for Curtis Daniel will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Claremore.
Curtis Allen Daniel passed away on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at the age of 79.
The son of George and Mary Staatz Daniel was born January 1, 1940 in Anderson, Missouri. As a young boy he attended school in Neosho, graduating from Neosho High School in 1957. A short time later he enlisted in the United States, Army. He served time in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1961. Upon his return home, Curt began his first job at a financial institution in Parsons, Kansas. It was that job that would send him to Claremore in 1971. It was also in Claremore that he would meet Cheryl Wadley. They began dating, and married on August 20, 1977 in Cassville, Missouri.
Curt enjoyed an extensive career in the financial industry. For over 30 years his talents were put to work for banks such as First National bank of Claremore and Chelsea, Lakeside Bank in Oologah, and Peoples State Bank in Claremore. At one point he and a friend Bill Woods even opened their own company called Claremore Finance. After his finance career ended and the hiring freeze was on with the state, he went to work for Mickey Perry at the Claremore Police Department as a Dispatcher. Later, Curt worked for the State of Oklahoma in the Department of Consumer Credit, along with Earl Clark and Tom Kennan. He retired from there in 2009.
Curt also enjoyed being an active part of his community. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Claremore. There he served on the Session, and also served as an Elder. He served on area boards such as, the Board of Adjustments for the City of Claremore, Chairman of the Finance Committee for Consumer Credit Counseling, and Trustee and Secretary of the Rogers County Housing Finance, just to name a few.
In his spare time Curt had many hobbies. He enjoyed things such as gardening, telling stories, and spending time with his Neosho classmates. However there were two past times that he loved the most, playing golf and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary, and siblings, Kent Daniel and Naomi Barratta.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl of the home; sons, Jeff Daniel, and Corey Daniel and husband Michael Ervin all of Tulsa; daughters, Marni Grass and husband Jim of Irvine, CA, and Kacy Bainbridge and fiance` Frank Lewis Jr. of Claremore; grandchildren, Aiden and Addison Bainbridge and Gianna Grass; sister, Mary Ellen Burnett and husband Keith of Florida, and many other nieces, and nephews.
