Funeral service for Daisy Mae (McMullin) Nelson will be 2 p.m., Mon., Jan. 3, at Epworth United Methodist Church with Revs. Garry Wilson and Darrel Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 2-4 p.m.
Daisy died Wed., Dec. 29, 2010, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 85.
The daughter of James Roy and Rhoda (Wildrick) McMullin was born April 20, 1925, in Chelsea. Daisy graduated from Chelsea High School with the class of 1943. She worked as a grocery store clerk most of her life. Daisy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She taught Sunday school at her church, Epworth United Methodist Church; and she was also a member of the church board.
Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1998; her parents; son, Bradley Nelson; sisters: Wanda Lyons Robinson, Nellie Pool, Mattie Major; and Verona McClellan Brown; and brothers: Grant, Clinton, and Andrew McMullin.
She is survived by her sister, Leola Pruitt and husband, Harold of Colubia, SC; daughter-in-law, Linda Nelson of Chelsea; brother-in-law, Gene Copeland and wife, Leona of Chelsea; sisters-in-law: Edna Mae Moore of Bentonville, AR, and Betty Dick and husband, Ray of Collinsville; aunts: Lois Brumback of Chelsea, and Ruby Ridenhour of Texas; granddaughters: Wendy and Amanda Nelson; and longtime friend, Betty Chandler of Oklahoma City.
